What tool is better to use for making beats?
Depends on the workflow you prefer.
You can use sequencer kinda of drum machine. You can find it beside the Note Editor when click on the clip.Should note it works with Drumpler droped in Devices on the current Track.
Also can youse Note Editor as well for pattern drawing.
Drumpler for fingerdrumming on pads controller midi connected.
There is a beat&rithm generator XY beat also should be linked to Drumpler’s kits…

Personally, I just love to use JamGrid. It’s an amazing tool to use for improvisation instead of just using loops for me.
I think you are mistaking something because JamGrid is exactly the tools that works better with loops. It gives some crative space and conveninet for mixing. But if talk about beat making ( creating beats from scratch) so that 's what is Drumpler, Drum Editor or XY beat for (last two are actually based on drumpler as well).
